Don’t Hide your valuables and Jewellery around the house. Thieves will search and find them. Secure your valuables in a safe rated to protect them. For example, a safe with a £1000 over night cash cover is rated to £1000 in cash or £10,000 in Jewellery and Valuables. Never place items of a higher value than the safe is rated to take, as this will probably invalidate your Insurance.
When looking into buying a safe, we recommend you look at the combined value of the items you want to secure and think ahead 10 years, you don’t want to have to buy another safe because you have exceeded the safes rating. Note, its either £1000 or £10,000 valuables not both. However, there are safes available with upto £1000,000 Cash Cover Rating in the Euro Graded Safes.
Grade 0 – £6000 rated
Grade 1 – £10,000
Grade 2 – £17,500
Grade 3 – £35,000
Grade 4 – £60,000
Grade 5 – £100,000
As a rule of thumb, most insurers will allow you to times this rating by 10 for Jewellery and Valuables.
